David Kazuo Hayashida, Principal and SAS Programmer
David Kazuo Hayashida has served a wide range of life science and allied health industry firms since 2004 as a consultant, Director of Operations, Technology Lead, and presently Principal with Boston Strategic Partners, Inc., a minority-owned, small business firm specializing in life sciences strategy, health economics & outcomes research (HEOR), and medical communications.
David's most recent work has involved developing code in Pyspark, SQL, and SAS to analyze terabytes of HIPAA-compliant, de-identified, patient administrative and clinical data from Cerner, IBM/Truven, Veradigm, HealthVerity, and others which have supported peer-review publications, posters, and strategy engagements. He also has worked with AWS datastores on S3 and HDFS, Jupyter Notebook, and has built/administered Linux/Debian servers from off-the-shelf parts. In SAS, he makes extensive use of proc format, hash objects, and macros and is experienced in various linear/logistic models, handling missing values, and Bonferroni correction. He has ghostwritten articles on CKD/ESRD and infectious disease.
His most recent personal project is the tear-down, parts selection/sourcing, and refurbishment of a 20-year-old Rancilio commercial espresso machine--thereby extending its service life and cutting energy use in half with aerogel insulation retrofits.
David holds a Masters in Health Economics and Pharmacoeconomics from the University of Pompeu Fabra Barcelona School of Management and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Art History from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is an alumnus of Iolani School in Honolulu, Hawaii, and is a Son of Iolani. He currently resides in the greater Boston area.
